SUMMARY:Do Unto Others: Mid-week Study
DESCRIPTION:Mid-week Study: Cultivating Kindness through Scripture & Community\nJoin us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the church for a small group study that will complement the Do Unto Others Sunday sermon series. We will explore the scriptural call to bless others and wrestle with what this looks like in our day-to-day lives. We will use the great biblical love ethic Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Matthew 7:12) as a guide for how to engage with people both inside our congregation and outside the church in an attempt to de-polarize our communities and love our neighbors through kindness.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship Series: Do Unto Others
DESCRIPTION:With divisiveness–and anxiety about that divisiveness–at an all-time high\, our new Fall worship series beginning the Sunday after Labor Day will consider How does our faith equip us to survive\, and perhaps eventhrive spiritually\, in this moment? From everyone’s viewpoint (diverse to be sure)\, there is a lot at stake for the wellbeing of our lives\, our families\, our communities\, and our world. I believe that it is an important time to be talking about “doing unto others” in ways that we hope will foster kindness\, compassion\, humility\, peacemaking\, respect\, and love in the world. \nAs Christians\, we have enough humility to know that we don’t have all the answers\, but thankfully we do have the teachings of Jesus\, who lived in his own turbulent times. And there are lessons for us in them – in the ways that he invited us to focus on treating others in generous ways – because we know first-hand what it’s like to receive that kind of love. \nYou are invited to reflect on these topics by joining us in worship and in a variety of different Christian Education opportunities (see page 2) – where we gather together in the fragility of a time that feels challenging. We gather and remember how Jesus called together friends and foes and offered the grace and love of God indiscriminately. We’ll take a look at how the church could model coming together to care for one another in the midst of what feels like so much hate and distrust.

SUMMARY:Heart to Heart - Women's Ministry
DESCRIPTION:Heart to Heart is an ALL NEW monthly ministry for women of all ages. The goal of Heart to Heart is to create a Christian community where women connect with one another and seek the heart of God together as we study God’s story and share our own stories of life and faith. Throughout our first year\, each month we will compare and contrast the character and faith stories of two Biblical women seeing how they relate to each other and to us as we live our lives of faith. Additionally\, between monthly gatherings women will have the opportunity to intentionally connect with a few other women to grow deeper in our relationships with one another. \nHeart to Heart will take place on the second Thursday of the month from 12:30 – 2:30 pm in the Fireside room and\nwill include a light lunch. Heart to Heart will begin on September 12\, 2024. Women are asked to register by Monday\, September 9 so that there will be a seat and enough lunch for everyone attending. If you have not already received an invitation and registration card of if you have questions\, please contact Lou Pennebaker.
